Why Not Just Shoot Them?

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Parents with children having terminal illnesses have indeed considered hastening their child’s death, once it was clear that nothing more could be done.

Of course, for a parent to admit this is only natural and healthy, but unless they have access to a doctor who’s not a complete neanderthal, it’s very difficult in this country to arrange a more merciful death for a child who is suffering.

Time for the Supreme Court, ever vigilant in supporting the right to death by firearms, to allow parents in such circumstances to unlock the gun cabinet and blast away, much quicker than having to appear before “death panels” and other canards of the right-wing nutosphere!

Gorilla says, somewhat in jest: “Our society is infantile, so why shouldn’t the Supremes encourage the right to infanticide, as part of a well-regulated parental militia?”

The Right To Own The Means Of Death

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Shall be upheld, apparently, so long as arms are involved!

Not that this should be a surprise, the current Supreme Court is dominated by right-wing, Know Nothing ideologues who are committed to keeping this country just as backward as it possibly can be!

So, let the killing continue, let screwing the unemployed continue, let America descend to the lowest common denominators of selfishness, racism, and hatred!

Gorilla says: “Where did our love go?”

More Bipartisan Junk

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

This time, it’s financial reform, or the lack of it…

Senators Dodd and Corker may have a deal to put a consumer protection agency inside the Fed.

More bipartisan huzzahs, once again over peanuts.

And what good is this deal?

The Fed already has a consumer protection mandate, which it has failed miserably to uphold.

The Fed missed the housing bubble, didn’t regulate Wall Street sufficiently, and has more or less thrown the unemployed over the side.

The banks and other assorted financial services groups clearly aren’t worried about any serious reform, having already purchased a sufficiently large number of Senators to keep consumer protection at bay.

Gorilla says: “When a retiring Senator isn’t even willing to try, the flesh of reform remains weak!”

Going To Beijing, Not Going To Tehran

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

China continues to insist that diplomacy, and not sanctions, are the key to solving the Iranian nuclear problem.

The Russians are being coy about sanctions, saying they should be a last resort and not targetted at the civilian population.

And the US and Europe continue to insist that more sanctions are needed.

Iran is not cooperating with the IAEA.

So, we should dispatch a senior diplomat to Tehran to get things back on track.

Instead, we dispatch a senior diplomat to Beijing to keep things off the track.

Sooner or later, of course, we’ll need to sit down and do a bilateral deal with Tehran, but not in an election year.

Gorilla says: “Carrots and sticks are fine, but talking is cheaper!”
