The Unemployment Structure

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

Another 450K unemployment claims and the continuing claims number keeps rising!!!

How to solve the problem?

Not by bullshit claims that it’s all “structural”, which is another way of saying: “Sorry, can’t or won’t do anything! The labor force cannot possibly be larger than it was in 1999!”

To paraphrase Sir Bob Geldof: “Use the fucking TARP money!”

$300 billion (less than half of the TARP money that should be available over the next 2 years) will enable a jobs program that would pay 7.5 million unemployed Americans $40,000/year (what might be called a living wage) to: build roads, paint roofs white, refurbish schools, replace water and sewer pipes, provide law enforcement, teachers, and fire services, pay mortgages, massively increase consumer demand, and oh yes, reduce the government’s deficit.

Gorilla says: “It’s so easy to do, but we are caught in a plague of idiocy, so our leaders still can’t figure it out!!!”
