80% of the world’s refugees are women and children, and nobody cares at all, the aid still gets channeled through men, in the governments and in the camps!

Gosh, it would be great in America if politicians decided that a woman’s body was her own upon which to decide, rather than an object of lust, or of hatred, or of control!

Yes, it would be super if articles in international mainstream media mentioning IWD might cite women who are not famous or not surviving!

Women are still expected to accept not being paid as well as men for similar work.

Women are still expected to be the birth control providers when sex is on the agenda.

Women are still expected to be the primary child raisers, cooks, bottle washers, and launderers.

Women are still expected to choose between family and career when they reach a certain age.

Women are still expected to be the primary caregivers for older parents, significant others, husbands, bosses, and everyone else who’s difficult.

Gorilla says: “And this is progress?”

Not much worth celebrating until the following are addressed:

*The majority of the world’s 1.3 billion absolute poor are women.

*On average, women receive between 30 percent and 40 percent less pay than men earn for the same work.

*Women also continue to be victims of violence, with rape and domestic violence listed as significant causes of disability and death among women worldwide.

Gorilla thinks: “If women ran the world, you can bet the world would be better off!”
