In Iraq, the Pentagon is telling the government we could stay beyond the July withdrawl deadline if asked.

And of course this demonstrates, yet again, that we just can’t let go when it comes to fighting and losing pointless wars.

It’s clear that Iraq will likely descend into civil war once the Iraqis are running things themselves, and that doesn’t make things easier for a President seeking reelection in 2012.

Gorilla says: “What else do you expect but duplicity from these clowns? They’re going 0 for 3, so it’s time for the Hail Maliki pass!!!”

Not just after July but right now!

Gorilla says: “The sooner we go, the sooner we’ll be glad!”

And of course continuing to die, while the civil war warms up in the background!

Gorilla says: “We are going, and should never have gone!”

Unlike that other pointless war, we now appear on course for withdrawl in 2011!!!

Gorilla says: “Let the civil war at last begin!”

Not the one we’ll hear, of course, but Gorilla has a go…

“My fellow Americans, my predecessor lied to you and got this country stuck in a pointless war in Iraq that has killed hundreds of thousands.

There were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and there were no terrorists in Iraq until we invaded.

We’re not actually leaving, because there’s just too much oil to be had.

So, we’ll keep pretending Iraq will become like South Korea, except we know it won’t because the Shiites and Sunnis will resume their civil war.

Hopefully, we’ll be long gone by 2012 and I’ll be reelected, although that’s anybody’s guess so long as I continue to do nothing about unemployment.

I’d also like to talk to you about ending the pointless war in Afghanistan, but I think you’re depressed enough.

In Iraq, the civil war resumes…

No government, no security, nothing to do but declare victory and get out in 2011!
